Halloween–A Repost

I wrote this a few years ago and still feel that it captures my thoughts about how we should approach Halloween as Christians.


“As Christians who live in a culture that does not place Jesus and the gospel in a place of primacy, we must make sure we always do.  That means we evaluate everything we say, think, or do.  This includes the holidays that we take part in and the way we take part in them.  Are we honoring King Jesus and advancing His mission in our community, nation, and world?”

So, should we participate in Halloween?  Should we not?  Are there any limits to the things we should be involved in?  Let me give you some guiding principles.  We respond:

1.       Without fear or superstition while remembering the demonic is real and active.

  • Satan is roaming around and he wants to devour us (1 Peter 5:8).
  • Satan and the demons are not “amped” up on Halloween in a way they are not on other days as far as…
