Parenting is Hard: Require Obedience?

Posted: November 1, 2013 in Uncategorized

There is no doubt that parenting is hard. It is full of joy and pleasure, to be sure. Yet, it is also full of pain, frustration, and headaches. My wife and I are trying to figure this whole parenting thing out. We have two boys who can drive us crazy one minute and make us smile the next. We love them, but at times we just aren’t sure what to do with them.

One issue in parenting is whether or not we should require obedience. Don’t we want obedience that flows from willing hearts? Isn’t forced obedience anti-gospel? How are we to think? This week John Piper has written powerfully and provocatively on this issue. I commend his post to you below.
